Since its inception in 1974, Shanti has trained more than 600 organizations around the world and 15,000 individuals in the Bay Area in compassionately providing emotional and practical support to clients grappling with life-threatening illnesses and poverty. Recognized as the first community-based agency in the U.S. to work with people with HIV/AIDS, Shanti serves over 1,600 underserved San Francisco residents with breast cancer or HIV/AIDS annually.
